Frequently asked questions about propane tank rental

Mazout & Propane Beauchemin offers the full range: 100 lb and 200 lb (light use such as a decorative fireplace, BBQ or range), 420 lb (the most common residential size), plus 320, 500 and 1,000 gallons for homes with several appliances. The 500 gallon can feed up to six.
Much more than the tank. Rental with Beauchemin includes safe installation by certified technicians, preventive maintenance, safety checks and access to fast technical service when needed. You enjoy the propane, the team looks after the equipment.
For the vast majority of homes, renting wins: no upfront investment, equipment that is always compliant and maintained by Beauchemin, and replacement handled when needed. If you buy, maintenance and compliance become your responsibility.
Installation follows precise standards based on tank size. For example, a 420 lb tank must sit at least 3 feet from any building opening (window, door, air intake) and 10 feet from any source of ignition. Beauchemin’s technicians ensure full compliance, you have nothing to calculate.
A 420 lb tank generally covers one or two appliances. A 320 gallon can feed up to four, a 500 gallon up to six, and a 1,000 gallon suits very large installations. The Beauchemin team assesses your total consumption (in BTU) and recommends the right size.
Yes, the tanks are built to face our Quebec winters. Just keep the tank and its lid clear of snow and the access open. The propane keeps flowing, whatever the temperature.
No. A rented tank belongs to its supplier, and only that supplier may fill it. When you switch to Beauchemin, the team replaces the former supplier’s tank and coordinates the whole transition, with no service interruption for you.
You must notify our team so that the account and the tank rental can be transferred to the new owner. For the propane remaining in the tank, you must come to an agreement directly with the buyer so that they reimburse you for the remaining quantity.
